...no excuse...

Missing in action again....that's because I've had such lovely weather it's a pleasure to be working in my yard. More rhodos flowering and daffodils making a nice show--a few more than a handful now. No recent photos, but here is one of my almost 19-yr old cat Sweetie..!! I think her eyes betray her age, but otherwise she is a spring chicken...well, not exactly, but nearly. She can no longer make the leap up onto my outdoors table, but she finds other, less taxing, ways...smaller leaps, smaller gains, but she makes it up on top.

Spring is getting ready to do just that....

Bits and pieces flowering now...daffodils for one. Herewith a photo of my tiniest one, a bare 9cm/3.5". The tallest one I grow, a King Alfred, is 60cm/2 ft. Plum trees are breaking into blossom...not yet enough for a worthwhile photo. The sunset tonight was just beautiful .....
Spent all yesterday pruning roses...100-odd bushes sounds like quite a few...they sure are a lot when each one is individually pruned. However, the flowers in another month or two will make all the thorn-retrieving and scratched flesh seem worthwhile. With Adam's help a few more trees have lost limbs..shame not to wait until they flower (cherry, flowering peach) but if I wait 'til they flower, I will say "oh next year will do" (as I have said the last two years) and by next spring, there will be even more to cut away. Like me, Adam isn't getting any younger..we hate to ask the 'kids' for help until we really have to.
Pretty interesting here, isn't it..!! Maybe I will share my shopping list next week...lol..

..same ol', same ol'

More flowers, perfumed this time---if only you could smell it. Daphne is flowering away, and if you know the perfume, you will have some idea how delightful it was in that part of the garden today...

The sun had a little extra warmth in it, and that emphasised the perfume.

I just had to include a photo of blue sky---I'm looking forward to much more of it....

...still nothing...

...to talk about....
How sad is that..!!

This is the first of my magnolias to bloom..

M. campbellii
It is a lovely sight, especially with the sun shining on it today.

Weedling seedlings are starting to smile..they believe the time is just about right for them to grow.
They don't know that I am waiting..!!

Right, I know my shopping list today would make more exciting reading,
but I'm sorry,
it shall remain a secret...maybe I will share it another time...lol...

Tuesday 9 August

Ooops...seems I haven't been here for a bit.
I've been on the look-out for more signs of the coming spring (September this part of the world)
and decided it would have to be a photo of the emerging daffodil leaves.

Luckily this rhodo decided to bloom. It's name has been lost in the mist of time,
but I can tell you it is a red one..!!

The skiers are still happy with the weather....we
(the regular users of our part of the highway) just wish they would stay in their cities.
Grumpy ol' country bumpkins, us...!!

I'm sure I will have something worthwhile writing in here...one day...surely...
